Miami closed its preseason with a 144-128 win over Brooklyn, and the margin was comfortable. The Heat took the first quarter 35-29 and gave it back in the second, when the Nets scored 37 to Miami's 34 and went into halftime down only 69-66. The game turned after the break. Miami scored 43 in the third, its best quarter by a distance, and added a 32-25 fourth to finish it. Brooklyn won the second quarter and nothing else.

Giannis Antetokounmpo did most of the visible work. He played 24 minutes and finished with 20 points, 15 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 blocks, a double-double that stopped one assist short of something bigger. Andrew Wiggins added 19 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. came off the bench for 14. Davion Mitchell, Ryan Conwell, Bobby Portis and Klay Thompson each scored between 12 and 13.

Michael Porter Jr. led all scorers with 27 points for the Nets, and he got there in 27 minutes. Egor Demin had 17, and Julius Randle, who played a game-high 28 minutes, had 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The better news for Brooklyn may have come from rookie guard Mikel Brown Jr., who scored 15 points in 18 minutes off the bench and tied for the team lead in steals. Moritz Wagner also scored 15.

Noah Clowney led the Nets on the glass with 7 rebounds, though he scored only 6 and Brooklyn never found an answer for Antetokounmpo inside. ESPN has posted a highlights package for anyone who missed it. Both teams now turn to the regular season.
