Shorthanded Lakers Run Out of Bodies as Warriors Roll, 124-98

With Austin Reaves and Walker Kessler day-to-day, Los Angeles had little to work with in a 26-point preseason loss at Golden State.

The Lakers arrived at Golden State on Tuesday night with a thin rotation, and it showed. Austin Reaves tweaked his ankle and Walker Kessler jammed his finger, and both are considered day-to-day. Others were out as well. Los Angeles had few bodies to throw at a team that wanted to play fast, and the Warriors took advantage.

The final was Warriors 124, Lakers 98, a 26-point margin that was mostly settled by a big first half. Nothing about the second half suggested the Lakers were going to pull it back, and this preseason game turned into an early evening for the starters on both sides.

Curry's status was unsettled going in. His knee has been a concern, and the Warriors have little reason to take risks in October. Golden State also remains without Kristaps Porzingis, who is out indefinitely, and that leaves the frontcourt a question to answer before the real games begin.

The Lakers came in off a 127-103 win over Sacramento on Monday, when Luka Doncic scored 21 points in 16 minutes. The Warriors came in sore after a 104-101 preseason loss to the Clippers. By the end of this one, Golden State looked like the team that had something to correct.
