Milwaukee left Indianapolis with a 128-127 win over the Pacers on Friday night, October 16, and it took the full 48 minutes to settle. Tyler Herro led the way with 25 points in 24 minutes. Indiana had a good answer in Pascal Siakam, who scored 24 in 21 minutes, but the Pacers came up a point short.

This was a preseason tune-up, and both benches got long looks. Kobe Brown played a game-high 28 minutes for Indiana and finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Ivica Zubac had the only double-double, with 11 points and 11 rebounds in 20 minutes. Myles Turner grabbed 13 rebounds for the Bucks but scored only seven. Brayden Burries added 14 points and seven rebounds off Milwaukee's bench.

The Bucks do like this opponent. They won all four meetings last season, and they lead the all-time regular-season series 122-97. Most of that edge was built at home, where they are 75-35. On the road they are 47-62, which makes a one-point win in Indiana a small footnote to the history.

The larger stories are the ones each team is carrying into the season. With Tyrese Haliburton back at the point, the Pacers are positioned to contend again, and he gave them 17 points and six assists in 20 minutes. Milwaukee is in rebuilding mode, still sorting out a roster in the post-Giannis Antetokounmpo era. Friday's win won't settle any of that, but the Bucks will take it.
