Sixers Drop 126 on Bulls as Edgecombe Hits 9 of 12 and Chicago's Slide Reaches 1-6

Philadelphia scored 30 or more in three of four quarters, and VJ Edgecombe missed only three shots, in a 126-107 win over a Bulls defense that keeps coming up short.

Chicago arrived at 1-5 with a defense that has looked lost most nights, and Monday in Philadelphia did nothing to change that. The Sixers scored 126 and won by 19. They put up 30, 34 and 36 in three of the four quarters. VJ Edgecombe was the cleanest of the shooters, going 9 of 12 for 21 points.

Tyrese Maxey led Philadelphia with 26 points and 11 assists, plus four rebounds, despite hitting just 1 of 5 from three. Jaylen Brown, a game removed from the first absence of his season with a sore knee, started and finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds, along with five assists. Edgecombe was the other Sixer over 20. Joel Embiid added 15 points and eight rebounds in 25 minutes.

The Bulls did make a game of the first half. After trailing 30-23 after one, they won the second quarter 36-34 and went to the break down only 64-59. The Sixers then took the third 26-20 to lead 90-79. They closed it out 36-28 in the fourth, and Chicago never got close enough to make it tense.

Caleb Wilson led Chicago with 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting, and Norman Powell scored 18. Josh Giddey had 13 points, 10 assists and four rebounds for a double-double, though he shot 5 of 15. The Bulls are 1-6 now and still waiting on Nic Claxton, who was listed doubtful with a hamstring strain and did not play. He is their best hope for fixing the rim protection.
