Cavaliers Run Past Struggling Bucks 136-111 for First Road Win

Evan Mobley scored 27 and Jarrett Allen added 25 and 11 as Cleveland pulled away in Milwaukee, leaving the Bucks 1-5.

Milwaukee needed something to grab onto, and Cleveland did not let it find anything. The Bucks came in at 1-4, a rebuilding team still adjusting to life after the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade to Miami, and they left with a 136-111 loss that was never close in the second half. Kel'el Ware had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Tyler Herro, Kyle Kuzma, Nate Ament and Brayden Burries all scored between 14 and 15. None of it slowed the Cavaliers.

Cleveland had its own reasons to treat this as a game it could not give away. A schedule that soon brings Oklahoma City on back-to-backs, then Philadelphia and the Knicks, does not leave much room for a bad night against a team the Cavaliers are supposed to beat. They also arrived stinging from Thursday's close loss in Atlanta and with no road win yet this season. By the end, that last problem was solved by 25 points.

The offense did it, which fits the numbers. Cleveland came in averaging 118 points, a top-10 mark, and Milwaukee was giving up ground at 113.4 on its own end. The Cavaliers cleared their average by 18. Evan Mobley scored 27 in 25 minutes, and Jarrett Allen had 25 points and 11 rebounds in 24 minutes for a double-double. James Harden controlled the pace with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists, and Donovan Mitchell added 15. Meleek Thomas, listed as questionable, played 23 minutes and scored 13. Thomas Bryant gave them 11 points in 11 minutes off the bench.

The Cavaliers did this without Jaylon Tyson, who is out with a high ankle sprain, while the Bucks had no one on the injury report and no health excuse to offer. Their next stretch is tougher: Minnesota, Boston, Toronto, New York and the Lakers. A team already looking for a way out of a slow start will have to find one against that list.
