Warriors Close Road Trip With 119-114 Win Over Shorthanded Timberwolves

Golden State beat Minnesota by five in Minneapolis to end a three-game road trip, even with Anthony Edwards out for the Wolves and three key players out for the Warriors.

The Warriors finished their three-game road trip with a 119-114 win over the Timberwolves on Wednesday night. They went into Minneapolis as the underdog and left with a result that moves them to 2-3, a small but real step after a shaky opening week.

Minnesota played without Anthony Edwards, who is set for knee surgery and is expected to be out about two months. That changes the Wolves' rotation immediately, and it clouds a season that started well. The oddsmakers barely adjusted. Minnesota was a 4.5-point home favorite, with the total at 227.5. The teams went past that number by a comfortable margin, and Golden State covered the spread and won outright.

The Warriors had their own absences. Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody, both recovering from knee surgeries, remain out indefinitely. Kristaps Porzingis is also out and is away from the team, reportedly because of POTS symptoms. Golden State was still thin on a night when it needed bodies, and it found enough of them to finish the trip with a win.

Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg added some pregame uncertainty. He scored 31 points in Golden State's 134-114 win at Denver, the team's first victory of the season. He was listed as questionable with inflammation and soreness in his left foot, to be evaluated before tip-off. The Wolves, who arrived at 3-1, dropped to 3-2 and now have to figure out how to play without Edwards.
