Lendeborg scores 37 as Warriors beat Clippers 124-112 without Curry and Green

Yaxel Lendeborg hit six threes on the way to 37 points, De'Anthony Melton added 21, and Golden State turned a second-quarter surge into a 12-point win over the Clippers.

Yaxel Lendeborg scored 37 points on 13-of-19 shooting, and the Golden State Warriors beat the LA Clippers 124-112 at Chase Center on Sunday night without Steph Curry or Draymond Green. Lendeborg made 6 of 11 from three and added six assists in 34 minutes. De'Anthony Melton gave him real help with 21 points, hitting all six of his threes on eight attempts.

The Clippers started faster, putting up 37 in the first quarter to lead by eight. Rui Hachimura, who finished with a team-high 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting, was the main reason they had the early edge. The game turned in the second quarter, when Golden State outscored LA 34-20 and went to the break up 63-57. The Clippers managed only 20 in that stretch, and they never got the lead back.

The Warriors kept the margin steady from there. They won the third 29-28 and the fourth 32-27, finishing each quarter ahead and leaving the Clippers no real opening. Brandin Podziemski played a game-high 37 minutes and had 17 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Brandon Williams scored 17 off the bench in 25 minutes on 7-of-11 shooting. Charles Bassey had 10 rebounds to go with six points. For the Clippers, Kobe Sanders scored 16 and Darius Garland had 15 points and seven assists, though he shot 4 of 12. Kris Dunn added 12, and Nick Martinelli scored 10 in six minutes.

Curry sat out for injury management on the first night of a back-to-back, and Green rested as well. Both are expected back Monday against Phoenix. Golden State, which started the season 0-3 and has since beaten the Lakers in the NBA Cup, got what it needed from the players who did suit up.
