Knicks Outscore Bulls 43-31 in the Fourth to Take Chicago, 133-127

After an 0-3 start and a win over unbeaten Detroit, New York came back from six down entering the fourth to hand the Bulls another home loss.

The Knicks started the season by losing three straight, and then they beat Detroit, which had not lost yet. Wednesday night in Chicago was the test of whether that win meant anything, and New York passed it, 133-127, by taking over late after trailing most of the night.

The Bulls had little room for another miss. They came in 1-4 and winless at home, and for three quarters they played like a team trying to fix that. Chicago led 62-56 at the half after a 29-point second quarter, and it was still up 96-90 going into the fourth. Then the Knicks scored 43 in the last 12 minutes to the Bulls' 31, and the lead went the other way. The loss leaves Chicago 1-5 and 0-3 at the United Center.

Both teams were thin in places. Nic Claxton was ruled out for Chicago with a left hamstring strain, and Williams and Awaka were listed as questionable, so the Bulls were short up front on a night when they needed size. New York was without Jose Alvarado, who is nursing a left ankle sprain and has now missed three games in a row. That costs the Knicks ball pressure off the bench.

The Knicks also played the first game of their first back-to-back of the year, and they will have to travel and turn around quickly. A fourth quarter like this one helps with that. The Bulls will have to explain how they let another game go in the final period.
