This page is the postgame report. The box score is the main page for the game, and the matchup history collects every meeting between these teams.

Joel Embiid missed the first meeting with Detroit while dealing with plantar fasciitis, and he spent Wednesday making up for it. On a foot he still calls painful, he played 33 minutes and finished with 26 points and 15 rebounds. Philadelphia beat the Pistons 112-106 at Little Caesars Arena and squared the season series at one game apiece.

The 76ers did their work early. They led 29-21 after one, 56-42 at the half and 91-75 through three, after a 35-point third quarter. Jaylen Brown led all scorers with 30 points on 11-of-19 shooting, adding seven rebounds. LeBron James scored only 13, but he had 10 rebounds and eight assists for a double-double. Tyrese Maxey went 5 of 16 and finished with 19.

Detroit made the fourth quarter uncomfortable, outscoring Philadelphia 31-21, but the 16-point hole was too deep to climb out of. Duncan Robinson led the Pistons with 27 points, hitting seven of 11 from three. Cade Cunningham had 26 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists, though he shot 9 of 22 and 1 of 9 from deep. Ausar Thompson grabbed 17 rebounds to go with 11 points, both double-doubles.

Philadelphia is 8-1, its only loss the 106-93 defeat in Detroit on Oct. 25. The Pistons fall to 6-2 in a race for the East's top seed that will not be settled until the teams meet a third time.
