Blazers Roll Past Shorthanded Jazz 112-90 to End Utah's Homestand

Portland won by 22 in Salt Lake City on Saturday, sending Utah to its fourth straight loss and a 1-5 record.

On Saturday, October 31, the Portland Trail Blazers went into Salt Lake City and beat the Utah Jazz 112-90. The 22-point margin made it a comfortable night for the visitors, who were never in much danger of giving the game back.

Utah came in thin, and it showed. Lauri Markkanen was listed as questionable with a right wrist sprain, an injury he picked up in the same game against Memphis in which Jaren Jackson Jr. went down. Jackson is out with a torn MCL and has only just started a recovery that is expected to run six weeks or more. Losing a starter for that long is hard enough. Having the other one's status in doubt on game day made the Jazz's night harder.

The frontcourt had another hole in it as well. Jusuf Nurkic is still out with the foot injury he suffered in the preseason, so Utah was without a third big man who might have helped fill the gaps. The Jazz were left to patch together minutes up front against a Portland team that was happy to take what it was given.

The loss was Utah's fourth in a row and drops the Jazz to 1-5. It also closed out their homestand, and they now leave Salt Lake City with a short record and a lengthy injury list.
