Pregame AnalysisCavaliers Look to Settle In Against a Bucks Team Coming Off a Washington Loss
Cleveland's top-end talent and frontcourt size give it the edge in Milwaukee.

Cleveland's season has been uneven so far. The Cavaliers lost their opener to the 76ers, then beat the Nets, and they have shown their potential only in stretches through three games. A trip to Milwaukee gives them a chance to string together a more complete performance.
The most useful reference point is the lineup Cleveland most recently used: James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, Peyton Watson, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. The Mobley-Allen pairing anchors the team at both ends, and it showed its offensive value against Brooklyn, where Mitchell, Mobley and Allen each scored 20-plus. That kind of spread makes Cleveland harder to defend than a team leaning on one scorer. Availability looks favorable too. One report lists no Cavaliers injuries as of Oct. 28, an improvement on an earlier report that had Khalifa Diop out with left knee injury management.
Depth should help as well. Sam Merrill, Jaylon Tyson, Mario Hezonga and Tyrese Proctor have been Cleveland's top bench contributors, so the Cavaliers can lean on a defined second unit when the starters rest.
Milwaukee comes in after losing to Washington in the Wizards' home opener, a result that adds to a shaky early stretch. The Bucks will need to answer Cleveland's size inside and its multiple scoring options, and that is a lot to ask of a team still looking for traction.
I expect Cleveland to be steadier on the road. Mitchell and Harden should generate enough offense, and Mobley and Allen should control the interior. Milwaukee should stay competitive at home, but the Cavaliers' balance wins out late.
Prediction: Cavaliers 116, Bucks 109.
