Pregame AnalysisUnbeaten Timberwolves Host Winless Warriors With Health Questions on Both Sides
Minnesota's strong start gives it the edge over a Golden State team still searching for its first win.

Minnesota has looked like the more settled team through the opening week. The Timberwolves are 3-0 after blowing out Miami, Orlando and Toronto, and those margins suggest they have controlled games rather than survived them. Golden State arrives at 0-3 after a 131-122 loss to Phoenix, a game in which it allowed a lot of points and never found a way to close the gap.
The biggest swing factor is Anthony Edwards, who is questionable with knee injury management. He leads Minnesota at 28.7 points, five rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, so any restriction on his minutes or aggressiveness would change how the Wolves generate offense. Donte DiVincenzo remains out after Achilles surgery in April, which trims the rotation and leaves less room for error if Edwards is limited or sits. Even so, a 3-0 team with that kind of early scoring cushion has shown it can absorb some disruption.
Golden State has its own uncertainty. Stephen Curry's availability is unclear. He missed the Phoenix loss after tweaking his right ankle in practice before the opener. If he is out or limited, the Warriors lose their most dependable source of offensive gravity, and a winless team will struggle to build momentum on the road. If he plays, Golden State becomes far more dangerous, but ankle concerns make it hard to count on a full-strength version.
The pick is Minnesota. The Timberwolves have the better record, the more convincing early results and the home floor. Edwards' knee is the main risk, but the Warriors' own health issues and slow start make them the less reliable side. Expect Minnesota to pull away in the second half.
Prediction: Timberwolves 117, Warriors 108.
