Wembanyama Goes 5 for 15, Misses All Five Threes, and Spurs Still Bury Jazz by 22

Victor Wembanyama had 12 points and 11 rebounds on a cold shooting night, and San Antonio still beat Utah 119-97 with seven players in double figures.

Victor Wembanyama made 5 of 15 shots and missed all five of his threes, and the Spurs still beat Utah 119-97 on Monday night. He finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists in 24 minutes, the only double-double of the game. San Antonio had seven players in double figures, so his off night barely mattered.

Dylan Harper led the Spurs with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Stephon Castle had 16, Keldon Johnson 15 and Harrison Barnes 13 on 3-of-4 shooting from three. De'Aaron Fox and Wembanyama each scored 12, and Devin Vassell added 11. Nobody on the home side reached 20.

Lauri Markkanen was the only player on the floor who did. He scored 22 for Utah, going 8 of 16 with four threes. Darryn Peterson played a game-high 33 minutes and had 14 points and 6 assists. Ace Bailey went 2 of 11 and Keyonte George 3 of 12, which left Markkanen with little help.

San Antonio led 27-16 after one. Utah won the second quarter 33-32 and stayed within 59-49 at the half. The third decided it. The Spurs outscored the Jazz 35-20 to make it 94-69, and the game was settled. Utah won the fourth 28-25, but by then the margin was beyond repair. The Jazz, 1-5 coming in, begin this road trip 1-6.
