Biography

Anthony Edwards is a guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves and one of the NBA's leading scorers. Born on August 5, 2001, in Atlanta, Edwards starred at Holy Spirit Preparatory School before playing one season at the University of Georgia. He averaged 19.1 points as a freshman, earned SEC Freshman of the Year honors and entered the 2020 NBA Draft, where Minnesota selected him with the first overall pick.

Edwards quickly grew from an explosive young scorer into the centerpiece of the Timberwolves. He earned NBA All-Rookie First Team honors in 2021 and became an All-Star for the first time in 2023. His downhill power, first step and above-the-rim finishing are matched by high-volume three-point shooting and increasingly demanding defensive assignments. He helped lead Minnesota to consecutive Western Conference Finals appearances in 2024 and 2025 and earned All-NBA Second Team recognition in 2024.

During the 2025-26 regular season, Edwards averaged 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals across 61 games while shooting 48.9 percent from the field and 39.9 percent from three-point range. He was selected to his fourth consecutive All-Star team in 2026. Entering 2026-27, Edwards remains under long-term contract with Minnesota and is the central figure in the franchise's pursuit of its first NBA championship.
